The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin’s statement that Sanatana Dharma should be equated with mosquitoes, dengue, malaria and corona and eradicated.
Udayanidhi, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs in the Tamil Nadu government and son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, in a press conference in Chennai on Saturday commented that “Some things cannot be opposed, they must be eliminated. We can’t fight dengue, mosquito, malaria or corona, we have to eradicate them. Similarly, we should eradicate Sanatana (Sanatan Dharma) instead of opposing it.”
The remark triggered a massive backlash on social media, with many demanding a case against the Tamil Nadu minister.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal filed a complaint against Udhayanidhi. The lawyer took to X and posted that he filed a case with Delhi Police against Udhayanidhi Stalin and termed the Tamil Nadu minister’s comment as “provocative, inciting& defamatory statement against Sanatan Dharma.”
The case has been filed under sections 120B,153A, 295, and 504 of IPC and the IT act, said the Supreme Court lawyer in his X post.
“Rahul Gandhi talks ‘mohabbat ki dukan’, but Congress ally DMK’s successor talks about eradicating Sanatana Dharma. Congress’s silence is a support for this genocidal call. India alliance, as its name suggests, will wipe out a millennia-old civilization if given the chance. That is Bharat,” BJP’s Amit Malavya posted on X.
In another X post, Udhayanidhi said he was ready to face any legal challenge.
“Bring it on. I am ready to face any legal challenge. We will not be cowed down by such usual saffron threats. We, the followers of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, would fight forever to uphold social justice and establish an egalitarian society under the able guidance of our CM MK Stalin. I will say it today, tomorrow, and forever: Our resolve to stop Sanathana Dharma from the Dravidian land would not reduce even a bit,” Udhayanidhi wrote.
BJP leader Annamalai also responded to the speech Stalin made by saying that, the only thing one can do in Tamil Nadu in order to vent out one’s frustration is to blabber around with a mic.
As a response to all the comments in medias stating Stalin’s comments as genocide, he responded by saying , “I haven’t called out for any genocide over people upholding Sanatan Dharma but to me Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion. Uprooting Sanatan Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality”
