Beyond the ceasefire; Gaza’s resistance redefines victory

The recent ceasefire agreement between Gaza resistance and Zionist entity has been symbolic of the former’s victory. Despite its heavy-handedness, the latter could not attain its stated goals—be it political or military. Its application of state-of-the-art technologies and weaponry, and military power consisting of highly-trained corps (regulars and reserves) as well as volunteers from different parts of the world, all deemed futile.

Zionist cabinet members, like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, have publicly acknowledged this defeat, and angrily termed the agreement a ‘surrender’ and as a move that exposed Israel’s disabilities. Hamas’ politburo member, Ezat al-Resheq, stated how Qassam Brigade’s resistance was key in breaking apart Israel’s war cabinet. This deal has not only shattered Zionist political structure but also has caused deep fissures within Zionist society.

For the resistance, the agreement has manifested their strength and resolve, more than mere survival. Functioning through chaos and destruction created by the enemy, they have displayed extraordinary resilience.

Initial declarations of Zionist leaders
Benjamin Netanyahu, in a chilling remark, likened Gaza to “Amalek,” a biblical term associated with destruction, leaving no room for clemency towards women, children, animals, or even trees. Yoav Gallant, his Minister of War, echoed this horrific vision, urging, “Go, Smash, and Finish,” to wipe out the population of Gaza and turn it into a desolate wasteland. Daniel Hagari, the military spokesperson, supported this narrative, reinforcing their destructive objectives.

Yoav Gallant has now been fired from his post. The grand plans to obliterate resistance and level Gaza have crumbled in the face of resilience, both from the people of Gaza as well as from resistance fighters, reflecting the unrealistic nature of their declared objectives. With this agreement, their declarations, their supposed military and political aims, have all come to nothing; their objectives, promises, or plans did not materialize.

Victory of Gazan resistance
Gazan resistance emerged more empowered with the ceasefire agreement. This power shift was deeply tied to the sacrifices of tens of thousands of martyrs. Loss of leaders like Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, etc., triggered a wave of anti-imperialist resistance globally, inspiring people across different age groups. Stories of Gazan resistance became a rallying cry in many parts of the world.

Having been born and matured in a situation of struggle and sacrifices, Gazan resistance, with its visuals, set the stage for the unseating of many regimes and governments across different countries. What began as a fight for survival within a small geography grew into a global symbol of defiance against oppression. Politically and morally, this war amplified the Palestinian cause worldwide.

Freeing hostages
Another declared objective of the Zionist aggression was to free the hostages held by Gazan resistance. They deployed some of the most advanced technologies available, trying to navigate the dense, confined space of Gaza. They offered huge bounties to those who provided the Zionists with information about the hostages. However, after 15 months of war, they were hardly able to free a handful of hostages.

This situation seems akin to how Prophet Mohammed (SAAWS) and Abu Bakr (RA) were concealed and protected by Allah Almighty in the cave of Thawr, during the emigration to Madinah, when a manhunt was set with a bounty on their heads. The simple means that Allah Almighty chose for this purpose stay relevant to this scenario too.

While the world’s superpowers may flaunt their technologies and might, it is Allah’s will and protection that prevails.

Settlement plans
Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich publicly voiced their demands of building Zionist settlements in parts of Gaza Strip and even about forcibly uprooting people from Gaza and relocating them to Sinai in Egypt.

The scale of violence unleashed upon Gaza is beyond comparison—far exceeding things seen in genocide across the globe. Gaza, a tiny sliver of land, became a spectre for testing and using the most advanced military hardware and software available in the world. It far exceeds the amount of destruction unleashed upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.

Miraculous Turn in Levant
Recent developments in Levant unfolded as a story of resilience, courage, and transformation. At its core lies Aqsa, a beacon of spiritual strength, standing tall amidst a storm of challenges. Syria, long weighed down by oppression, is beginning to reclaim its dignity. Its people, scarred but unbroken, now carry a torch of hope, fueled by sacrifice and determination, as they strive for true liberation.

The ripple effects of the war in Gaza have reshaped the political and spiritual landscape of Levant. Traditional concepts of war, which focused solely on material power, have been overshadowed by considerations of faith, resilience, and commitment to justice.

Salient achievements of the resistance

  • Unyielding resilience: Maintaining a steadfast military presence for 466 days. Gaza, rising from the ashes, is ready for renewal despite enduring immense devastation.
  • Strategic liberation: Transforming Syria into a key launchpad for broader regional liberation and beyond.
  • Breaking expansionist plans: Shattering Israel’s aspirations for unchecked dominance. A once-mighty force now struggles to achieve its military objectives.
  • Challenging regional politics: Unraveling containment policies of neighboring Arab states. A major section of the masses has come to realize these regimes are occupations in themselves.
  • Thwarting divisive plans: Halting efforts of the US-led West and Israel to balkanize the region and create new fragile dependencies, like “Greater Kurdistan.”
  • A redefined equilibrium: The relationship of the masses with faith changed drastically.

Understanding Gaza’s Triumph
For the past few centuries, Muslims have endured a series of defeats and subjugations. One of its most damaging outcomes has been the distortion of fundamental ideas, the notion of “victory” being one of them.

Gaza has proven to be resistant to invasion and ploys of division, leaving negotiation and understanding as the only viable paths forward for any enemy to deal with them.

Muslim history documents different manifestations of victory:

  • Divine protection: e.g., Holy Prophet SAAWS’ safe emigration.
  • Recognition by adversaries: e.g., Hudaybiyah Pact.
  • Divine retribution: e.g., punishment of Nuh AS’ people.
  • Victory in reasoning: e.g., prophets AS’ debates.
  • Spiritual triumphs: e.g., faith prevails despite worldly losses, as seen in the martyrdom of various prophets.

This ceasefire agreement is a monumental achievement, comparable to the Prophet SAAWS’ victory in the Battle of Ahzab—wherein a coalition of “jaheliyah” failed to crush the nascent state of Prophet SAAWS, and he declared, “Now on, we would call the shots; not they.”
